Culture is Real, Colorblindness is Not

We do not want to ignore that we are all members of diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences that have shaped and continue to influence who we are. However, when we look at another human, we commit that we will not only see their race, nor will we ignore their experience by pretending as if they are without a race. Rather, we will commit to see one another as human while at the same time, having an appreciation for the strengths and struggles of the group and individual with whom we may wish to interact.
